IT CAN ONLY GET BETTER !
Happy Christmas to everyone near and far who is working on our training manuals. A more difficult time than 2020 is hard to imagine, with little socialising for youngsters, restricted group training and fewer shoot opportunities but with 2021 and a vaccine round the corner, things will surely get better ! I wish you and your dogs of course, the best for 2021 and do keep us updated with your news via www.aytee.co.uk/training 😀

Where did that come from ?
Over a hill I guess 😏 it was warm and sunny then this… a proper snowfall that flattened all the cover strips. Dogs worked beautifully, finishing the day just before rain set in. Karat picking up for the first time since she chipped two canines but gained confidence retrieving today thank goodness, although she cant pick dummies. Does anyone have experience of young dogs breaking teeth and how it affects their work?
Warm and Sunny Retriever training
So lovely to spend a beautiful morning with Marcus Fox owner of one of Karats pups from the “N” litter yesterday. ‘Brooke’ along with kennel mates Milly and Asher dropped in to share some training. All enthusiastic retrievers that regularly pick up we had a great morning polishing up our acts !

A New Normal
Well, the dawgs first picking up gig north of the border and what a great day. One insanely huge drive with steep gullies and dense blackthorn to hunt but so proud of the dogs clawing their way up the burnside to retrieve birds. Super friendly people with some awesome dogs and we loved taking our breed along to share the day….. hoping to be asked back !
The Thinking Spot
Been sitting here with the dawgs reflecting on the summer and our new start is beginning to feel like home. Roll on 2021 and getting back to some training and meeting friends again.
Pup made a discovery, on our walk, luckily it doesn’t run very fast 😂
Bonny Scotland
Thankyou to all friends for the truly lovely messages on our move to Scotland. After a glorious week of dry warm sun for moving in to Aytee’s new home, Oxo celebrated her 6 month birthday this weekend with another beautiful walk. Sad about trial cancellations, but thank goodness for simple things. Loving the views, the black nights and the dead quiet.
A Wonderful Shoot
Many thanks to our wonderful shoot from all our dawgs for 14 years of fantastic picking up, first retrieves, first swims, here they have all learnt everything with many proud moments and some forgettable ones too 😉 A fantastic finish in the pouring rain today for 5 month old Oxo retrieving her first partridge so beautifully. Huge thanks to the family for wonderful sport and hospitality over the years & Good luck for the rest of 2020! Guns, see you North of the border and beaters, now you can eat all the rocky road !
Sharon and her PU gang, Daphne, yours truly, Kim and just some of the dawgs 😘😍

Aytee does a ‘U’ Turn
The Aytee Kennel is moving ….. to the Scottish Borders. Unable to emigrate to New Zealand because of Covid19 we have decided to settle with our GSPs in the beautiful Roxburghshire countryside and from next month can look forward to welcoming friends old and new.
Our solution to the pandemic has taken a while to find, but Johnny and I are very grateful to all our wonderful HPR friends during this very challenging 2020 and we hope to see you soon.
Meanwhile the Aytee flag will soon be flying in New Zealands North Island where our daughter will share the Aytee prefix. Good luck to Harriett who will run Aytee NZ and breed from her lovely bitch Aytee Kimono in Spring 2021.
The Scottish Borders will be Aytees new home

DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS
We had a lovely time training the pup this weekend despite the weather and as this video shows dog training can mean almost anything, as long as they’re having fun what matters !
